Tesla Powerwall 3 home battery
Tesla

Meet Powerwall 3.

Store solar energy for later. Support your home during an outage. Manage it all in the Tesla app.

13.5kWh stored energy
11.5kW continuous output, up to
10year limited warranty

Built-in solar inverter. Backup equipment, loads and system design determine what stays powered and for how long.

Why consider it

High output and storage together in one enclosure.

What to weigh

Your backup goals may require more storage or load management.

Storage that fits

Two ways to build with Enphase.

Smaller increments or more energy per enclosure. We check compatibility before recommending either.

IQ Battery 5P
Enphase

IQ Battery 5P

A compact AC-coupled battery for building storage in smaller steps.

5 kWh usable3.84 kVA continuous at 240V
Why consider it

Add capacity in 5 kWh increments with Enphase monitoring.

What to weigh

Multiple units may be needed for your loads. Backup requires compatible system components.

IQ Battery 10C
Enphase

IQ Battery 10C

More stored energy in a single enclosure, with the newer Enphase system architecture.

10 kWh usable7.08 kW continuous
Why consider it

Twice the energy per enclosure compared with one 5P.

What to weigh

5P and 10C are not interchangeable. Confirm controller, inverter and generation compatibility.

Both Enphase batteries: limited warranty of 15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles, whichever comes first. Warranty conditions apply. Compare coverage below.

Q.TRON BLK M-G2+/AC

An all-black 430W solar module with its microinverter already integrated.

430W DC panel rating25-year product + performance warranty
Why consider it

Panel-level monitoring and a matched panel/microinverter package.

What to weigh

430W is the panel DC rating. The integrated inverter has a separate 349VA continuous AC rating.

Manufacturer details ↗
A simple distinction

Panels make DC.
Your home uses AC.

The microinverter converts the panel’s output into electricity your home can use.

This Qcells AC module already includes a Qcells microinverter.
It does not need an Enphase IQ8 added to that same module.

For other panel configurations, we may recommend separate microinverters or a central inverter. Roof layout, shading, battery design and equipment compatibility guide the choice.

The conversion step

Tesla or Enphase inverters.

Two different architectures. The right fit depends on the complete system.

Tesla Solar Inverter
Tesla

Tesla Solar Inverter

A standalone string inverter that connects solar generation with the Tesla ecosystem.

12.5-year limited warranty
Why consider it

Centralized equipment and Tesla app integration.

What to weigh

Roof layout and string sizing matter. Powerwall 3 already includes a solar inverter; a separate one is not automatically needed.

IQ8 microinverters
Enphase

IQ8 microinverters

DC-to-AC conversion at each compatible solar panel. IQ8PLUS shown; model varies by design.

25-year limited US warranty
Why consider it

Panel-level operation and monitoring.

What to weigh

Exact IQ8 model must match the panel. Service may require roof access; backup needs additional compatible equipment.

SEE HOW IT WORKS

Sunshine now. Stored energy later.

A simple look at how solar and a battery can work together.

Daytime: solar panels supply the home and charge a battery with surplus energy
01 / DAYTIME

Make it. Use it. Store the extra.

Solar supplies your home. Surplus energy can charge your battery for later.

Evening: stored battery energy supplies the home
02 / EVENING

Put your stored energy to work.

A charged battery can supply your home after sunset, reducing electricity drawn from the grid.

And when the grid goes down?

With compatible backup equipment, a battery can keep selected circuits powered. What runs—and for how long—depends on your system and energy use.

Know what is covered

Battery warranties, side by side.

Manufacturer coverage is different from a lease or PPA service agreement.

Manufacturer battery coverage
BatteryLimited termCapacity protection
Tesla Powerwall 310 years70% retention at 10 years. Cycle/throughput conditions depend on use.
Enphase IQ Battery 5P15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles, first reachedAt least 60% retention under warranty terms.
Enphase IQ Battery 10C15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles, first reached70% at year 10; 60% at warranty end.

Coverage is subject to installation, use, connectivity, registration and other manufacturer conditions. Labor and replacement terms vary. Tesla allows unlimited cycles for specified self-consumption, time-based control and backup uses; other applications have a 37.8 MWh throughput limit. A loan does not extend these warranties.
